Devotional – Acts 26

29 And Paul said, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.”

Paul’s heart, soul, mind was aimed at one thing – the proclaiming of the gospel so all might hear with the hope that they too would become like he was – a Christian, just not in chains. This should be our heart also. We should have the same heart for our neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers as Paul had for Agrippa. One of the reasons God leaves us on this earth after we’ve been saved and that is to be his witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. God could have used any means at his disposal to get this good news out the people, but he chose to use you and me. Paul reminds us of this truth in his letter to the Romans when he says: 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
