18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Jesus suffered very kind of temptation men have ever faced, every longing to give into sin, every struggle to fight off the desires of darkness and he did so without sinning. The tension Jesus faced was unrelenting. Imagine a boiling tea kettle that whistles when the pressure is released that’s what happens to us when we give into our temptations. But for Jesus the kettle whistle never blew and the pressure continued to increase and for this he suffered. But that suffering was for our sake. That suffering under the pressure and tension of temptation to its fullest extent was experienced by Jesus so that he could help you in your time of need. So when you face the relentless struggle of temptation remember that Jesus did also and we can turn to him for help in our time of need.
