10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
In this chapter about Christian giving, Paul focuses our attention on two key points to remember. The first is that God is the one who supplies. We have been given blessings at the hand of God. Some of it is bread for food to supply our needs just as Jesus reminded us to pray – give us this day our daily bread. But God also supplies the seed to sow – that is he has given us, again by his hand, surplus in order to help others. The second point to notice is that the one who has supplied that seed for sowing will also increase the harvest that comes when we sow the seed into the lives of others, not in monetary return as some of the Word of Faith teachers say, but an increase in the harvest that comes from our righteousness. A harvest that is storing up treasures in heaven.
